Centre History

In March 2020, Aimee Christie purchased Kiwi Educare from Lynda Godfrey who remained a valuable member of the teaching team. Aimee brings to the centre many years of experience in education and the same family focused perspective of education, and is supported by an amazing teaching team.

In 2014, Lynda Godfrey, a long-time employee purchased Kiwi Educare from Danya and the traditions of a family-based centre continued, supported by everyone currently involved at Kiwi Educare. Lynda’s passion for education was evident in the way she was continually supported by families and whānau, and the learning continued.

Kiwi Educare was the dream of Danya Wood who brought her dream to life after a lot of hard work in September, 2008. The bare land at 252 Vaughan Rd was purchased and the centre was designed with an open plan main learning environment and so that the playground captured the sun all throughout the day, and a purpose built environment emerged. Kiwi Educare had a whānau-based approach from the start, encouraging Tuakana-Teina relationships within a small license number of 36 children.

Centre Philosophy

At Kiwi Educare our aim is to provide children with the essential tools and foundations to grow up to become healthy, capable and confident learners.

We aim to provide children with a natural environment that is inclusive and respectful of the diverse cultures and religious beliefs within our multi-cultural nation.

At Kiwi Educare we aim to provide children with a safe loving environment, supportive of whānau (families) and our local community.

Our centre is developed on the concept of Tuakana-Teina (teaching partnership between children), thus strengthening empathic and social awareness. Key teachers support learning through the natural environment and our methodology of simplicity.

Testimonals

what our clients say

The Kiwi Educare team are friendly, caring, and do a great job looking after my son. He started at the centre at 18 months old and loves spending time there – playing in the sandpit, dancing to music and learning new things. As a family we love the effort that goes into the special activities organised around themes such as Matariki, Olympics and Mother’s Day and how we are invited to take part. Highly recommended as a safe, happy place for your little one.

Both my daughter and son absolutely love kiwi educare, its been amazing to watch them thrive and grow over the years. The teachers are loving and nuturing and have provided a great preschool education and fun.
- Emily
I highly recommend Kiwi Educare as being a smaller centre it means teachers have that one on one quality interaction with children. For example when my kids first attended the daycare they were very reserved and shy but with the great support from all teachers my kids are now social butterflies who have grown into confident and independent children. As a parent I cannot thank the teachers enough for showing and giving my children their love and attention.

Kiwi Educare has been the most amazing centre for our family. We wanted to say thank you so much for taking care of our baby son. You guys have made having to go back to work and leave our baby so much easier. We feel at ease knowing he is having so much fun at daycare. He is always learning new things and being challenged. The staff and teachers are all lovely and so caring. We love that you are open early enough for an easy drop off and open late enough for those later work days when needed. Nothing is ever a problem. We feel like we have gained a second family so we truly thank you for all your hard work.
- Love the Thom Family
Right from our first visit, Kiwi Educare helped us feel so comfortable with the thought of someone else taking care of our son (which as a first time parent can be quite daunting!). All of the teachers were so warm and friendly and we very quickly made to feel part of the Kiwi Educare family. We love the regular updates we get on the Educa app of our son’s learning progress and growth and they were open to accommodating our cloth nappy needs as well which a lot of other centres said no to. I really can’t say enough how much we love this centre for our boy. Looking forward to many more years of our children being part of this wonderful whanau.
